I've been playing with AEG's for all of my airsoft life, yet, I'm finding them constantly disappointing.
So now I'm ready to carefully stick my toe into the dangerous currents of the gas gun market, what do I need to know?
Do I want Blowback or non-blowback?
Which manufacturer should I look for if I want a low to mid-priced gun?
Which model is known for reliability?
What about care for the gun and gas choices?

OK, this is fine that you are willing to take a swim in the dangerous ocean of gas guns . A good company for around 100 dollar gas guns are KWA, which make good glocks, and WE(I suppose) make good Hi capas. However there seems to be alot of complaints with reliabilty of those Hi capas so for just starting you should look to a comapny like KWA which wont crap out easily or over nothing. Gas blowbacks have more realism but also have less power(most of the time) and non blowbacks have more power but less accuracy(because of the heavier trigger pull). If you were going to get a non blowback gun, would you be willing to get a rifle? Both the HFC Mauser C96 and the KJW MK1 Carbine would be good choices for gas rifles, however the mauser is better looking(made of pine and metal) while the MK1 can mount scopes. The Mauser is more of a marksman rifle, while the MK1 could atually be a sniper rifle with the optics. And dont worry if the power is too much for your competition(Billy ;D), you can use a weaker gas, H134A, in the summer which would bring the fps down to around 340-350, and in the winter use green gas or maybe red to keep it going well. You could also mount your aeg as a backup if you wanted a gas rifle. Let me know if you would be interested in either of those guns.

Yeah, as of right now it's a toss up between the pistol versions HFC Mauser c96 and the KJW MK1. I'd rather have a pistol than a rifle. The Mauser may look better and have a slight advantage in power but the trigger looks cramped and I've heard that KJW is a very reliable make (unlike HFC).

Actually, because the MK1 doesnt have a visible hammer, while the Mauser does, it wont have any less of a pull. But like on kmans USP, the Mauser can have the hammer pulled back before shooting to allow a less of a pull.

Really? Tonight?! Im going to be getting my gun soon too, Im just not sure whether to get a WE GBB or a KWA Glock. Kman, are you still getting the G18?
Also, are you sure you dont want a gun with a better mag size? It only holds 16 rounds, while the Mauser holds 30 something.

Yeah, I think I'm sticking with the G18...From what I've read, glocks tend to be very stable and reliable too.

Alright, you are sure you dont want the MK1 carbine? I read on a review on airsoftgi that with .28 bbs the guy could hit a soda can 10 out of 17 times at 230 feet, that is dead accurate.

I've ordered the Mk1 Ruger Pistol, it should get here towards the end of the week.
I'm happy with it, I was lucky to get the metal hop-up verson and I've read tons of good reviews on it.
