Is that true? I never knew that. So new recruits got M1 Garands and other guns? I knew that sub machine guns were usually reserved for higher ranking soldiers(both allied and axis, German squad leaders used MP40s, supported by Kar98's, Allied leaders suing Thompsons, supported by Garands). Good info rocket.

Actually, there are tons of veterans with m1's and tons of rookies with thompsons. I think that it just mattered how many to a squad. But I might be wrong.

naw i saw it on tv. maybe the vets liked their m1s and the rookies did something heroic right out of the gate. like draging a wounded ranking officer back to the medics.

"The Thompson found particular utility in WWII in the hands of Allied troops as a weapon for scouts, non-commissioned officers, and patrol leaders. In the European theater, the gun was widely utilized in British and Canadian Commando units, as well as U.S. paratroop and Ranger battalions." -wikipedia.com
this quote is strait from wikipedia. i now understand where you are coming from with the rookies but i think a more fitting word would be "green trooper" because rookie makes me think of noob and noob makes me think of Upums from saving private ryan. green commandos may be granted this gun due to the fact that preformance is key but this is probly the only case since they were so expencive to produce.

That is what my brother calls me as an insult sometimes, he hates him so much. I mean, to just let the guy walk right down the stairs? Give me a break.

He kills him eventually, but still, that guy personally killed the jewish guy with the knife, he killed the captain, and some others. You really have to put feelings aside, for if you let someone go one day who is your enemy he may kill you tomorrow, not because he dislikes you, but because you are enemies.
